To drive a Land Cruiser is to vicariously drive the rough roads of the entire world. To drive in the driver's seat of a real chariot. What other 4x4, indeed what other passenger car can take you to that special place?
There is such a thing as having a name that is so great the actual thing or person is unable to live up to the name. The Land Cruiser name has reached great proportions as a 4x4, yet it has continuously lived up to that name in extreme environments around the world even down to the South Pole, earning its reputation over a period of 50 years.
Back in the 1950's the American Army contacted the Toyota Motor Corporation with a request for a 4WD vehicle to be used by the soldiers and military police stationed in Japan. Toyota took the request seriously. The result: the Land Cruiser, a literally bulletproof vehicle. Down to earth yet with spirited attitude, capable of enlivening the life you're living and the conversation you're having. All FJ40 Land Cruisers are two door four-wheel drive trucks with removable hard top, doors and fold down windshield frame allowing for "open-air" driving
How many Land Cruisers were Sold per YearThe FJ45 was only available in the U.S. from 1963-1967. Made in three configurations: a short bed pick-up with fixed or removable top & doors, a long bed pick-up with removable top & doors and the 4-door wagon. However, availability of the these models is quite limited.
Versatile. Rugged. No nonsense. The FJ45 Land Cruiser is available in three different configurations: a 4-Door Wagon, a Shortbed Pickup and a Longbed Pickup. Availability in the US was limited to the years 1963 to 1967. The FJ45 longbed has a square bed with tie-down loops on the sides and a removable hard top. The FJ45 shortbed pickup has a rounded bed beveled on the top rim like a FJ40, and comes as either a fixed hardtop or a removable hardtop. The longbed and wagon models are rare, and the shortbed is very rare.
