1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. $29,000.00.
Beautifully restored. Painted in dune beige with a white top. I bought it in 2004 from the second owner and started the restoration process in 2005. The previous owner had rebuilt the engine and had gone through the transmission and both axles. The Landcruiser’s frame-off rotisserie restoration was completed in September 2006. In many ways this Landcruiser is better than it was new almost 30 years ago. You will look long and hard to find a better looking and riding FJ.
Body and Frame:
All metal panels were removed, stripped/bead blasted to bare metal. Each was professionally primed using epoxy-etching primer, and painted before being reassembled. New quarter panels and front door skins replaced the rusted areas. The tub was painted inside and out using a rotisserie stand. The entire body and parts are now rust free and sealed for a very long and durable life. Rock guard coating was applied on the entire underside and interior floor, along with the Front Fender inner wells. The fiberglass top was taken down to bare fiber then primed and painted in Off-white.
The frame along with many other panels including the skid plates, roll bar, radiator support, etc were powder coated with a black satin finish. It looks awesome! New polyurethane body mounts and hardware were used to mount the body onto the frame.
Interior:
The original front seats were replaced with new high-back reclining seats from Qualitex Seating. The jump seat frames were painted and professionally upholstered with formed cushions and black vinyl to match the front seats. New shoulder harness and lap seat belts, along with mounting hardware. Heater was taken apart, painted, and then reassembled with new hardware. The heater core was cleaned and pressure tested. New dash pad, door panel, window cranks and door pull handles. New gas tank with new sending unit. Gas tank cover and transmission hump were individually painted to match the body prior to reassembly. Includes a new original AM radio, along with the original jack and tool kit, along with the factory auxiliary light! New bolt hardware and wiring harness was used throughout.
Exterior:
All new emblems, rear reflectors and housings, side marker lights, front turn signals and brake light assemblies, door handles, antenna, stainless steel hood and window latches, windshield washer nozzle, door and hood hinge pins and bushings, and spare tire hinge bushings.
All new weatherstripping for each window in top, along with the windshield. All new hardtop weatherstripping, including top assembly to tub and fiberglass top to sides. Doors have new window channel and weatherstripping. New motor mounts, transmission hump seal, and kick vent weatherstripping.
Mechanical: Including steering & suspension
New Weber carburetor and electronic ignition. New master cylinder, all rear brake cylinders, front calibers, pads, and rotors, along with all rubber brake hoses. New clutch, master cylinder, and slave cylinder. Front axle rebuild kit, including knuckle bearings, seals, and shims. New tie rod ends, steering center arm rebuild kit, and rag joint. All new drive shaft universal joints. New ProComp ES3000 shocks, 2” shackles and polyurethane bushings, and axle u-bolts.
